We’re Passionate About Supporting Veterans
Arkansas Valley Hospice, Inc. in La Junta, Colorado is proud to be a part of the We Honor Veterans campaign, a joint program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the Veterans Administration. We all owe our thanks to veterans and the sacrifices they’ve made to protect our freedom and safety. It’s only right that they be taken care of in their time of need with compassionate hospice and palliative care.
Benefits of the We Honor Veterans program?
Some of the most important benefits are:
- Each veteran is awarded a Certificate of Appreciation honoring their branch of service.
- Each veteran is honored with a red, white, and blue blanket.
- Social workers help veterans and families access their veteran’s benefits.
- We collaborate with the VA Medical Center and Regional Department of Veterans Affairs on behalf of our veterans.
- Continuing education is provided for our staff and volunteers to enhance the care of our veterans.
- We offer community outreach events throughout the year to show our appreciation and educate the communities that we serve.
Volunteers of Arkansas Valley Hospice are able to commit their volunteer time to veterans within our program and organization. Other areas our volunteers can help with include fundraising, marketing, office support, patient care, caregiving respite, grief support, prayer quilt ministry, and meal preparation.

They’ve given us so much and it’s our job in return to make sure they receive compassionate end-of-life care that they deserve to live their final moments with the most comfort, respect and integrity possible..
